IEPCIL Says Thank You to Founder Ralph Shelman
Insight Enterprises, Inc. was designated as a center for independent living (CIL) by the state of Virginia in 1987. The CIL was founded by Ralph Shelman, who served as the Executive Director through March 2023. IEPCIL is thankful for Mr. Shelman's leadership and dedication to the CIL's consumers for over 30 years.
IEPCIL's Mission
- Empower people with disabilities to make decisions that affect their daily lives and provide them with the skills and support to enable them to make their own life choices.
- Assist people with disabilities in leading independent, productive lives, becoming full consumers in their communities, and realizing their greatest potential as individuals.
- Develop partnerships with a coalition of professionals in the fields of education, rehabilitation, and community services to be instrumental in encouraging the development of public policies that provide the necessary support to foster the independent living of people with disabilities.
- Assist the community in meeting its obligation - to fully integrate people with disabilities into the mainstream of community life through education, advocacy, and technical assistance designed to remove barriers to people with disabilities.
